Cayman Islands - Bringing Your Own Food
If you are planning a vacation to the Cayman Islands, you should consider bringing your own food. Bringing your own food saves money, because most of the restaurants are expensive
Everyone loves to eat at restaurants in the Cayman Islands, but overtime, it could get very expensive. If you bring some food from your home, you could really save some cash, and you will have more money for other things such as exciting tours. If you pack enough items, you can cook your family a great home-style meal every night of the week.
Not everyone will enjoy packing groceries from home; because it is a lot of work; carrying normal luggage is already a challenge, and most families will not want to carry heavy groceries to their rental car. This is why it is importance to pack many light goods such as cheese, Hamburger Helper, and Kool-Aid. If you have a pantry and a refrigerator full of food, you may want to pack whatever you purchased, especially if you are staying on the Islands for a few months. You are allowed to bring meats such as chicken and beef to
the Cayman Islands; however, you have to leave them in their original packaging, and they must have the USDA seal displayed.
This requirement totally stops you from using a repackaging appliance, which keeps your food fresh; however, you should still bring it with you, just wait until you pass customs to repackage your food. When you remove the plastic wrap and repackage your food in
the Cayman Islands, you have to eat all of it before you leave, because customs will not allow those meats back into US.
It also helps to bring items that you know you and your family will use, this way, nothing gets throw into the trash when it is time for you to return to the US. Any kind of seasonings are ok, so bring all of your favorites you use the most in your home. If you cook meals everyday while you are in
the Cayman Islands, your bottles will get empty quite quickly. Other items you should consider packing are microwave popcorn and small quantity items such as sugar packets; if your family loves snacks, the popcorn will be gone within a week, and the sugar can be used in a lot of ways such as in your morning coffee or cereal.

If you are spending a month in the Cayman Islands, your food from home will run out; the local grocery stores sell many familiar items; however, the prices are a bit higher. You should consider buying more groceries instead of eating out, because shopping and cooking at your hotel or condominium is way better then eating out everyday, especially if your family loves to eat a lot. If you cook your family a home cooked meal in
the Cayman Islands every night, you will be surprised how much extra money you will have left over.
Taking a vacation in the Cayman Islands required a lot of food planning. During your vacation, you will see many unique restaurants, but if you stick to cooking your own meals, you will save a lot of money.
