Cayman Islands - Buying and Renting Beach Gear

Buying or renting beach gear is a tough decision to make; each method has advantages and disadvantages. Renting is faster and easier, but buying is better if you plan to snorkel everyday

Everyone loves to snorkel in the Cayman Islands; however, many people have a hard time deciding whether to rent or buy their gear. Buying and renting both have there advantages and disadvantages, so choosing the right method depends on you. Renting is by far the simplest way; however, you have to deal with a few problems before and after you get the gear.

There are many snorkeling shops in the Cayman Islands, and each place rents many kinds of snorkeling equipment. The shops have tons of snorkeling masks; however, you will face a problem when you try on the gear. Many people have rented the snorkel masks before you, and they wore them for long lengths of time. The problem is that every face is shaped differently; people with wide faces normally stretch masks. When a mask is stretched, other people have problems keeping the mask on their face.

Swimming with a warped mask will ruin a snorkeling experience; water will constantly flow into the mask. Getting a warped mark is not the only issue; some tourists are also concerned about the cleanness of the snorkeling mouthpieces. Many rental shops disinfect their gear; however, some people are still cautious about the germs. Despite these issues, renting is still easier if you plan to go snorkeling a few times. Buying your own gear takes a lot more time; however, it is probably the best way to go.

Buying your own gear gives you a huge benefit; you get to own a customized snorkeling masked that will fit you comfortably. When you buy your own gear, someone who works at the sporting goods store will help you choose the right mask. After you have the style of mask you want, the staff member will help you adjust it to fit your face.

This part of the buying process is very important; a good mask helps you snorkel better. You should never go to a store without any snorkeling gear knowledge and buy something without the help of a professional. With the help of a professional, you will get all the right snorkeling gear and accessories to have an awesome day at the beach. Besides snorkeling, many people visit the Cayman Islands to surf and bogie board. Both of these activities are fun; however, you have to visit the islands at the right time to use the gear.

In Cayman Islands, there are usually no waves to be found during the summer. If you buy a surfboard or a bogie board, it will not get any use in the summer. November is when the waves start to show up; surfers and wave boarders should visit during this time. If you plan to buy your own surf or bogie board, you must consider the amount of space it will take up. Traveling and carrying a board to and from your hotel room will be challenging; however, riding the waves is definitely worth it.

Renting or buying beach gear is a tough choice; your decision depends on your money and time. If you have the money, buy you own gear at a sporting goods store. If you just want to snorkel one day during your vacation, you should rent the gear from a beach vendor
