Cayman Islands - Jeep and Rental Car Touring

If you want to see the off-road trails in the Cayman Islands, you should take either a tour alone in a rental car or a jeep tour. A rental car tour is relaxing, and jeep tours have a tour guide

The Cayman Islands have great land-based tours, and they are all worth trying, but if you want to experience something a bit different, you should try a jeep tour or just tour alone in a rental car. Normal tours take place in a standard tour bus, which sometimes have usual smells or no air conditioner to keep everyone cool. Jeep tours are a nice alternative, because you get to travel the Cayman Island’s off road trails, which give you opportunities to take pictures of animals and places you will not see on a tour bus. Renting a car and touring alone is also worth a try because it is quite peaceful and you get to listen to the radio.

When you tour in a rental car, you get a comfortable seat and you are alone, which means you can play any song on the radio you want, and most of all, you have an air conditioner to keep cool. If you plan to go on a tour in your rental car, you need a good map or a GPS device; a GPS is better because you get to concentrate on viewing your surrounds as the device tells you the directions.

The best off-roads places you should visit are East End, Savannah, and Bodden Town, but if you are adventurous, you may find more great spots. There is nothing wrong with renting a car and touring alone; however, if you plan to do a lot of touring, you can expect to send a lot of money on gas, which is a bit expensive in the Cayman Islands. Although you get to play your music and sing as loud as you want in a rental car, you still should consider booking a Jeep tour because you will learn a lot more from a tour guide.

There are two ways to take a jeep tour; you should choose the one that suits you the best. The basic tour consists of four passages, including the tour guide, so if you are touring alone, there will be two other strangers in the jeep with you.

Depending on the type of person you are, a few hours riding with two complete strangers could be either good or bad. You may be stuck on the tour with someone with an annoying habit such as talking a lot without stopping, so keep this in mind. If you are easily annoyed, do not take your chances, it could ruin your tour; try taking a private tour instead because it only includes you and the tour guide. The tour guide may also let you drive the jeep if you prefer, or you can arrange a plan to take turns driving.

The sights you see on a jeep tour are amazing, so bring your camera along with you, and maybe some snacks to eat. The tour travels on the Cayman Islands’ off-road trails; nature lovers will enjoy this tour a lot because they will get to see many animals. Off-road trails are not the only spots on the tour; you will also visit some beaches before the trip ends.

Taking a land base tour alone is ok if you have an easy to read map or a GPS device; a jeep tour is a nice option as well because you will learn a whole lot from the tour guide.
