Snorkeling The Cayman Islands

If you want to spend time with your kids during the summer, you should plan a snorkeling trip in the Cayman Islands. When they dive into the water, they will see many underwater animals extremely close up

A snorkeling vacation is an excellent way to relax with your kids during the summer. It is a great way for them to learn because they get to see many types of underwater creatures as they swim by. Carefully planning, however, is required; otherwise, you will have a stressful trip with crying or scare children. Many kids, however, will enjoy this experience, and when they return home, they will tell their friends about the amazing vacation they had while snorkeling in the Cayman Islands.

Before you book your hotel, tell your kids about the trip you are planning; be sure to mention the animals they will see so they will be prepared. You should defiantly tell your kids about the stingray first, because it is the main animal that is seen while snorkeling. The stingray may seem small; however, it is extremely large; some of them are the size of a kid’s body. It is not wise to book the trip as a surprise, and then let your kids see the size of this animal in person while in the water because it may cause some unpleasant reactions. There have been occasions when kids are told to enter the water without knowing the actual size of the stingrays, and when they see one for the first time, they panic. After this happens, they will not want to go back into the water again, so show your kids a picture of the stingray before you leave. You can find pictures online by using a search engine; when you type in the search term, search for actual size stingray pictures.

When you arrive to the Cayman Islands, you will need equipment to go snorkeling; you have two options; you can rent or buy the gear. Renting is cheaper; however, there is a risk of getting germs from the snorkel mouthpiece. Some rental places do not wash or clean their equipment after it is returned, so always ask an employee if the company cleans their gear after use. Rental equipment includes a buoyancy vest, fins, mask, and a snorkel, which is attached to the vest. To be absolutely safe and germ free, you should rent the gear, but instead of using the included snorkel, buy your own snorkel from a sporting goods store.

Choosing a good snorkeling spot is not tough, but you have to consider the weather, the people with you, and the boat you use. The weather sometimes causes the boat to move in a way that causes seasickness, so you should observe the ocean carefully before you leave the shore. Once you are out on the ocean, you can start snorkeling; however, some people may want to stay on the boat for a while. Staying on the boat is ok, but depending on the waves, the boat’s movement could cause seasickness, but sitting on a nearby steady rock can help. If you find a rock, fin to it and use it, but keep in mind that many areas will not have rocks nearby to sit on, so if someone in your family gets seasick easily; try using a slower stable type boat instead of a speedboat.

Captain Marvin’s boating service is one of the best ways to go snorkeling because the staff are friendly and they make everyone feel comfortable. If someone cannot swim well and has a fear of stingrays, the crew stills remain patient; they try their best to make sure everyone has a great time. The crew will even watch your kids so you can go snorkeling alone; they do a good job handling teenagers and preteens; however, when toddlers start crying, you may have to come back for them. Once you and your family begin snorkeling, everyone will quickly notice how easy it is; everyone will maneuver through the water without any problems. The buoyancy vests help you float, and you can move and steer by kicking your feet gentle to go slow, or rapidly to go fast. Once you start looking around, you will see many types of fish and sunken boats, but the stingrays are the main attraction.

A snorkeling trip is an excellent way to spend time with your kids because they get to learn while having fun
